Friday Five For December 26th, 2003

1. What was your biggest accomplishment this year? I Think that it would have to be the Warehouse move. Even though it was just a move next door, there was still alot of work involved and it went pretty smooth.
2. What was your biggest disappointment? Loosing Suzanne…yeah, I know I lost her last year, but it seems that I just moved even further and further away from her, no matter what I did.
3. What do you hope the new year brings? A job promotion; at least one of my bills paid off; good health for my family, my friends and myself. But I think above all else, I hope for some resolution with Suzanne. Regardless if Suzanne and I get back together, or I find someone new in my life to replace the void that she left, or if I just come to better terms with the situation than what I have now. That is my biggest hope for the next year.
4. Will you be making any New Year’s resolutions? If yes, what will they be? I will….might get the list up while I’m on vacation here. Probably will wait until I get back.
5. What are your plans for New Year’s Eve? Planning on attending a party in Fairfield, if my friends can get their act together…

Friday Five for December 12, 2003

1. Do you enjoy the cold weather and snow for the holidays? I honestly can’t remember the last time that there was snow for the holidays. Living in California is usually not the best place for a Christmas with snow. And when I’ve visit the family in Washington, it is usually raining and not snowing. The closest it got was some front on the ground, but not real snow. I would have to say that it would have to have been in Korea that I had a White Christmas; that would have been at least 15 years ago. But to answer the question, I would have to say that I only enjoy cold weather if there is snow falling and on the ground to distract me, otherwise it is just cold and I am miserable.

**note** I guess I did see snow last year, but that was on the road trip fom hell.

2. What is your ideal holiday celebration? How, where, with whom would you celebrate to make things perfect? I wish that I could be with Suzanne and her family, or with any of my friends. I just think that I would have more fun that way. Which is not to say that I don’t want to be with my family; I just know that our Christmas will be a more subdued affair.

3. Do you do have any holiday traditions? Not anymore. Before, we use to decorate the house, open one present at midnight, put the Christmas tablecloth out on the dining room table and have a nice dinner. Nowadays, me and my family can’t even be bothered with setting up a Christmas tree or even
getting presents for each other. I mean, we supposedly made this pact not to get presents for anybody, but we are all going to break it anyway (well at least I am.) Yeah, it’s really sad, but that’s just the way it is I guess.

4. Do you do anything to help the needy? No

5. What one gift would you like for yourself? A chance to reclaim a love that was lost and to rebuild it into something that is well built, stronger than before, and would last a 1000 lifetimes.

Friday Five for November 28, 2003

Just a little late…
1. Do you like to shop? Why or why not? I guess I still like to shop, but not as much has I used to. Years ago, I liked nothing better than to go and hit the mall. It didn’t matter what store I went to; department, clothing, music, electronics, computers, sports, furniture, etc. I would love to go look at things, try things on, and test things out. However, in the last couple of year, I have curbed in my shopping habits, to the point where it is really hard for me to shop for stuff. It’s a good thing in that I’m not the impulsive shopper charging things on my credit cards. However, I get to the point of making myself sick with anxiety sometimes trying to decide if I should by something or not.

2. What was the last thing you purchased? Food wise, it would be the lunch at Jack in the Box that I had (grilled chicken sandwich, .99 chicken sandwich, fried, and med. carmel shake.) Computer wise, it would be the 128 stick of RAM from Crucial that I got for the old Gateway computer at my parent’s house. Honestly can’t remember the last time that I purchased clothes for myself. Oh yeah, I also got three magazines for the flight home from Washington (PC World, PC Magazine, and Computer Power User.

3. Do you prefer shopping online or at an actual store? Why? It depends on what I am buying. Shopping online usually has the better deals, and I can quickly price compare between sites. However, it’s also nice to be able to go to a store and see/feel what you want to buy. And then there is the atmosphere of the store, like shopping at Walmart late at night. Nothing beats that.

4. Did you get an allowance as a child? How much was it? I did get an allowance has a child, but I don’t remember how much it was. $5 dollars maybe? And then there was the Report card bonuses. I want to say that it was $5 for A’s and $1 for B’s

5. What was the last thing you regret purchasing? The magazines that I got at the airport. I had so many things to read, the magazine articles weren’t that good, and I could have gone to the library or Borders to read them for free.

Friday Five for November 7, 2003

1. What food do you like that most people hate?
Brussels Sprouts
. That’s the one that I remember has a kid. I love
Brussels Sprouts; they are good with some light butter or in a cream sauce. Yum! I remember in grade school finding out that most people hated them, so I became a closet
Brussels Sprout eater.

2. What food do you hate that most people love? Pick one: Tomatos, cherries, strawberries, most fruit, fish. I am somewhat of a picky eater.

3. What famous person, whom many people may find attractive, is most unappealing to you?
Cameron Diaz.
She is nice looking and everything, but she really doesn’t do anything for me.

4. What famous person, whom many people may find unappealing, do you find
attractive?
Tina Turner. I’ve caught alot of flak for being attracted to Tina Turner. But the woman is fucking gorgeous, even at age 60. One night with her, I’m sure I would learn so much about pleasure that I would die. They would find me with a smile on my face.

5. What popular trend baffles you? Easily the whole body piercing thing. Just the other day, Tim and I saw this girl and she had two little spike piercings on the bottom of her lip; we are talking about a cartoon bulldog look . Very unattractive, but nothing compared to the people with hoops in their lips. WHAT THE FUCK! WHY?! The nose and eyebrow ones I can stand, and they actually look good on some people if done right. The same with
tongue piercings; I once said that I would never kiss anyone with a tongue piercing. But who am I kidding, I am a guy. If a girl is going to let me kiss her, that won’t really stop me. The thing with the belly piercings is that too many people have them and have no reason to be showing off their body. And for the love of god, I don’t know why anyone would want to pierce their genatilia.

Friday Five for October 10, 2003

1. Do you watch sports? If so, which ones? I watch sports occasionally. Mainly I watch baseball and football, occasionally basketball, hockey, and tennis. I tend to watch more during the playoff championships than in the regular season.

2. What/who are your favorite sports teams and/or favorite athletes? I used to like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers way back when their colors were orange and white and Vinnie Testaverde was their quarterback. Not sure why. Anyway, I just tend to support the local teams (S.F. Giants and 49’ers, Oakland A’s and Raiders, San Jose Sharks and Sabercats). I don’t really have a favorite athlete.

3. Are there any sports you hate? I’m sure there is, however I can’t think of it right now.

4. Have you ever been to a sports event? Yes. have been to several Giants games including the last game that they had at Candlestick Park (I will always think of it has Candlestick). Also have been to one 49’ers game (they played Atlanta, if I remember correctly.) Been to various college events. Never been to a Pro Basketball game or to a hockey game.

5. Do/did you play any sports (in school or other)? How long did you play? Played baseball for a season. Was on the Taegu Orioles in the 5th or 6th grade. Was a pretty bad left fielder, however I did make some
miracle plays every now and then. I biggest shinning moment was when we were playing in the playoff against Pusan. I got a base hit and proceeded to steal 2nd and 3rd. Made an attempt to steal home and got into a
minute keep away match between 3rd and home. The ball got pass the 3rd baseman and I charged for home. However, the shortstop got the ball to the catcher at home, so I charged into the 200lb sumo wrestler/catcher and tried to knock the ball out. We both flew to the ground, however the bastard was able to hold on to the ball. After that I kinda retired from sports, even though every year, a couch would try to get me to join a team (usually basketball cause of my height.)

Friday Five for October 3, 2003

1. What vehicle do you drive? I currently drive a 2002 Malibu Blue Ford Focus ZX3 hatchback, manual transmission.

2. How long have you had it? The car was bought by myself and Suzanne on May 16th, 2002, a few days before my graduation from S.F. State at Serramonte Ford. I’ve had it for 16 months now and it currently has approx… 12,000 miles on it.

3. What is the coolest feature on your vehicle? “Coolest” features include the fact that there is enough leg room in the driver seat for me, the fact that it has air conditioning (my previous car, The Metro, did not have A/C, which was bad while living in 100+ degree Vacaville weather), and a nice radio/CD player (the Metro had a radio with broken
antenna and cassette player.)

4. What is the most annoying thing about your vehicle? I kinda wish that I would had shopped around longer for one with a sunroof on it. Also, I sometimes wish that I would have got the automatic transmission so I could get the remote starter. However, the most annoying thing about the Focus is the gas mileage; only 26 city/ 32 highway. Compared to the 45 city/ 55 highway I was getting in the Metro, the gas mileage sucks.

5. If money were no object, what vehicle would you be driving right now? O.K., practically, I would probably get a Honda Civic (maybe a hybrid version), a Pontiac/Toyota Vibe/Matrix, or a VW Golf. The main thing is that I can actually fit in the driver’s seat comfortably. If I could win a car off of a game show or something, (i.e. 20,000-50,000 range) then probably something like a Ford Thunderbird or maybe a Cadillac CTS, or a Seville. Now, if I won the lottery, then I honestly think that I would have to get a Jaguar, one for me and one for my Dad (he loves Jaguars; he has always wanted one). I don’t want to do the typical thing and get a Porsche, or a Ferrari. Maybe get a custom made car. Or what about a suped up Metro. Get a Metro body and then put a F1 engine in it and just bling-bling the hell out of it.

Friday Five for September 19th, 2003

[Listening to: Barrel of a Gun – Depeche Mode – The Singles 86>98 Disc 2 (05:27)]
1. Who is your favorite singer/musician? Why?
I don’t have one particular favorite singer or musician that I like. There are a slew of artists that I like in all genres of music. At home, I put WMP on shuffle and go through all of my songs. Right now, I am trying to get lyrics to most of them and rate them, which is just a
Herculean task.
My current favorite is probably BT; I have
been playing his newest CD in my car nonstop now. At first, I was just listening to the single that is currently out, Somnambulist (which some stations call it “simply being love.”) However, I started listing to the rest of the CD and it is just awesome, from
beginning to end.

2. What one singer/musician can you not stand? Why? Like the singer/musicians that I like, there are lots of artists that I can’t stand. I guess right now, number 1 on my list would have to be Good Charlotte. **rolls my eyes** I just can’t STAND those bunch of no talent hacks.

3. If your favorite singer wasn’t in the music business, do you think you would still like him/her as a person? Since I have never met BT, I don’t think that I can answer this question. I hope that he is/would be nice in person.

4. Have you been to any concerts? If yes, who put on the best show?
I have been to a few concerts. The best would had to have been the Dave Matthews Band.

5. What are your thoughts on downloading free music online vs. purchasing albums? Do you feel the RIAA is right in its pursuit to stop people from
downloading free music?
Personally, I don’t download that much music (I get it another way that is probably quasi-legal at best). and I have bought CD’s this year (mainly because in a fit of depression I signed up for Columbia House). I think that the RIAA is right in it’s pursuit of people downloading music. However, the way that they have attempted to pursue these people is wrong. The RIAA shouldn’t/doesn’t have the authority to issue
subpoenas. And then to go after a 12 year old is just wrong. Did no one in the RIAA see the bad PR they would get from doing this. I also think that the music industry is responsible for the position that they are in now. Let’s face it, the music
industry is just ugly. All of the artists sound the same; I am SO tired of new artists being compared to other artists. I want something new, fresh, unique. And then CD prices; I’m sorry, I refuse to pay $18-$20 for a crap,
over processed CD with maybe 1-2 songs on it.
MTV has also had a role to play in music demise. And the radio
industry, oy vey. Clear Channel is the devil’s radio station, if you didn’t know. I hear the same songs over and over again on all the
stations that are owned by the same company. The playlists are so rigid and narrow, it’s quite sad really. And I see no improvement in sight for the next couple of years.
